Hey Fashionistas! I am thrilled to be returning as a Style Guru for the spring semester. Although it hardly seems like warm weather is around the corner, I cannot wait to see what spring styles my trendy Gonzaga classmates will bring to campus in the upcoming months.

Being from Minnesota, where it feels like winter for most of the year, I have come to love cold weather fashion. Negative temperatures and mountains of snow can’t stop people from enjoying the outdoors and looking fashionable doing so! Since moving west, I have noticed that the rest of country doesn’t seem to share this Minnesotan mentality of being unfazed by the weather (although they should!). I hope to inspire my West Coast pals to appreciate and utilize the fashion opportunities that come along with winter.

Dreary winter weather does not have to mean a dreary winter wardrobe. My favorite way to combat a serious case of cloudy day blues is with a vibrant ensemble. Layering is my go-to strategy during colder months. Not only is it practical, but layering adds multiple dimensions and textures for a cozy look.

My personal style during the winter is reflective of my Minnesotan roots and best described as eclectic and rustic. My shearling vest is a winter wardrobe must-have, not only adding warmth, but also a chic, unforgettable appeal to any dress, sweater, or patterned T-shirt. The boots are equally sensible and chic—perfect for a snowy day or just a stroll through campus. They feature several materials for increased visual intrigue and the fur flawlessly mirrors the fur vest. I added a knitted hat to emphasize the outdoorsy look. Tall socks peeking out of my boots and jewelry introduce warm tones of red.

I am looking forward to capturing and sharing the styles of Spokane again this semester!
